Hello, I'm Alex.
I'm a Linux enthusiast, a tinkerer, and a dad to two great kids living in Southwest Oklahoma. My interests span a little bit of everything, from bicycle commuting and beginner gardening to electronics, my faith in the Episcopal Church, and navigating life as a Democrat in rural red Oklahoma.
Currently Working On
- E-Bike Commuting: I've started biking 16-18 miles to work. I consider myself a commuter rather than a "cyclist," and I'm currently figuring out how to make this a lasting habit.
- Linux: I'm a passionate enthusiast, definitely not a pro. I spent way too long not daily driving it, but I'm eagerly making up for lost time.
- Gardening: Nothing crazy. Like my biking, I'm just having fun while actively shrinking the amount of yard I have to mow.
- Self-hosting: It started innocently enough with Jellyfin, and now it's gotten completely out of hand (but I love it).
Why This Blog?
I realized I had this URL linked on my Mastodon account doing absolutely nothing. I decided to finally get it fired up since learning Eleventy was already on my to-do list, and having a blog perfectly feeds into my growing self-hosting obsession.
